Spiderman 3
May 6th, 2007I saw Spiderman 3 on Friday with Dave at AMC 30 during the last showing (11:50 pm), it was sold out, as were all of the Spiderman 3’s on opening day. The movie started a little slow as they began to set up the story line but made up for it with the first initial battle sequence between Harry (the new Green Goblin) and Spiderman which was visually and emotionally intense. The movie itself was a little rushed and there was a few corny sequences in it (like the Harry/MJ dance sequence), however, the special effects in the movie were so freaking cool that I will give a pass to the corny scenes. I was satisfied with the way the movie ended and it didn’t really lead anyone to believe there would be a Spiderman 4, however, I did see on IMDB that a 4th Spiderman is already set for 2009 (no word on actors). I also read that Spiderman 3 broke the single day opening record for a movie by making 58 million dollars and who knows how much more by the end of this weekend.
I’d give Spiderman 3 a 7/10 rating (Spiderman 1 a 8/10, Spiderman 2 a 9/10), I really felt like Spiderman 2 was much better overall, but once again the special effects in the 3rd really were amazing. Unfortuantely, special effects aren’t what makes a movie and a rushed and overloaded story line really took away from Spiderman 3.
