Back In Action

After about 2 weeks of not having my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop in working order (and nearly losing my mind) it is finally back up and running.  For some reason my Vista Ultimate CD, when in the CD drive during bootup, will not take me to the Windows Repair area.  Instead, it just asks me which operating system I want to boot up (and there is only one choice, Vista).  So I had to get a format utility and completely reformat the hard drive and then reinstall Vista.  Of course, this process wasn’t as seamless as I make it sound.  First I tried to install XP (because of issues I was having transfering files over the XP to Vista wirless network from my work laptop to Dell).  Unfortuantely, the XP SP2 that I installed was lacking a ton of system drivers that were needed for me to operate normally, so I again decided to reformat and just deal with Vista.  Luckily, however, I found a fix for the slow network speeds (stupid autotuning and compression).  Anyway, the point of this story is that the laptop is now fixed and I am happy to not be using my work laptop regularly for personal use.

The weather here in Park City, UT is definitely turning for the worst (or for the better depending on if you actually like snow).  Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to go snowboarding and what not but driving through the canyon to work in the snow is NOT fun at all.

Can anyone else believe it’s already almost December?  It’s going to be a VERY fun filled month for me and I honestly can’t wait to start it up.  It begins on Friday December 7th when Billy and I are going skiing/snowboarding at one of the PC resorts (I can’t remember which one at the moment) and then the next day (Saturday) we are going to the MSU vs. BYU basketball game at Energy Solutions Arena.  The MSU game will be at about 2 pm and then after that around 10 we are going to the Fabolous concert at HarryO’s!  Of course the one thing I can’t wait for the most is December 22nd; the day I return to Troy, Michigan.  There is nothing I want or need right now than to see the friends and family for a good 5 days!  I cannot wait!

Anyway, work is just about over, time to head home and start my salmon dinner!  More updates soon!

LappyTappy Is Dead

My laptop is currently dead.  I have been having numerous problems with it (from what it seems) since I installed the newest version of AIM 6.5.  I have been having many network connection problems coupled with poor performance so I have decided to reformat and reinstall Vista.  Unfortunately, my Vista installation cd is not giving me the option to repair or install upon startup, so I had to download a formating utility (which is currently running and literally is going to take 60 hours to format the entire drive).    Hopefully by the end of this weekend I will have it all back up and running so that I can put the pictures online from the BYU vs TCU game.  It was a lot of fun by the way!  Me, Billy, a bunch of Mormon girls aching to get married, what can be better?  Anyway, like I said, hopefully this weekene d we can get a full update in.

 Until then…have a great weekend!

Ski Trade

This past weekend was the beginning of the ski-trade in Park City.  Picture a huge gymnasium stuffed full of all winter recreational equipment new and used; everything from ski’s/snowboards to all the things that go along with those (jackets, pants, gloves, goggles, etc.).  This is also the most popular event of October in Park City, people literally line up outside for this hours before it starts, it is packed full of people.  Anyway, Billy was searching for ski’s and boots and ended up finding a nice pair of Volkl ski’s.  I, on the other hand went not really looking to get anything but found a snowboard that was a great deal and looks real sweet.  This is where I thank the mom and dad for hookin me up with an early christmas present of a snowboard and boots!  Pictures below!

Thursday Billy and I are going to the BYU / CTU game at BYU.  It’s gonna be a blast!  I also recently purchased tickets to the MSU / BYU mens basketball game at Energy Solutions Arena (where the Utah Jazz play) on December 8!  Thats about all for now, I’ll try and update again this weekend with pictures of the BYU game.
