About

The RAN III Experience initially began in the fall of 2001 as a way for me to communicate with my friends and family while I was away at college.  The website began as “The GVSU Experience” as I was formly a student of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.  It was during this phase that the website began to take the shape it would hold for the next five years.

After my freshman year at Grand Valley, I transferred schools and began attending Michigan State University, fittingly, the name of the website changed to “The MSU Experience”.  Along with the name change the entire color scheme changed as well.  Formerly orange, blue, and white for GVSU, those colors became green and white for Michigan State.

The old website had a few different links attached to it.  Fan favorites include the photo album, friend profiles, and the webcam shot.  The old site layout included a webcam photo on the main page that, if clicked, would open a new window that would automatically update every 15 seconds with a new webcam picture (straight from the college dorm room).  I cannot tell you how many things I’ve caught on this webcam and how many times I’ve been caught doing embarassing things such as picking my nose (I was just scratching it I swear).  As exciting as the webcam was, I decided to discontinue it for right now (I can assure you nothing exciting happens in my small bedroom).  Perhaps in the future when I move out I can find something unique to do with the webcam and incorporate it into the site once more.

After I graduated from Michigan State I decided that it was time to give the website a facelift and try to give it a more clean look.  It was at this point in time that Chouse had redone his website with Word Press.  He told me he could hook me up with the Word Press system and he assured me it was much easier to use than just manually editing files to update the website, so I went with it.  It did take me a little while to fully understand the WP system but now that I do, I am more than happy with it.  With this change to the website and the fact that I was no longer in school, a new title had to be conceived.  I threw around a few different ideas but in the end I knew that “The RAN III Experience” was the right fit.  The website, during college, was to show others my college life experiences, now the website is now used to keep people informed about my true life experiences.

As of today (the day I wrote this) the website has over 250 posts and over 2899 photos.  I hope to keep this website going for as long as possible or at least as long as people keep telling me they read it.  Without people who care about me, this website is meaningless.  I do it all for ya’ll!
